Promoting healthy and active lifestyles to prevent chronic disease

Professional research study(1)has suggested neurodegenerative disorders' replacement of systemic degenerative disorders, particularly the dementias, as the major causes of both death and morbidity in the 21st century as a result of population ageing, and brain development and lifelong improvements in cognitive and behavioral capacity have been highlighted as the important factors for further increases in longevity. Drawing on such insight, the Tanner Hill Project is a purposely-built elderly housing project aiming to enable future tenants to smartly age in place.

The Tanner Hill Project creates an environment with full spectrum of facilities and equipment that facilitate social interaction, interest cultivation, healthy diet, increased fitness training with preventive healthcare programmes to enable the deferral and compression of chronic systemic disease and consequent disability towards end of life.

Special social convening team: Anything from interest classes, private parties, to religious assemblies and activities can be arranged and coordinated by The Tanner Hill's social convening staff upon request, so as to satisfy tenants' pursuit of intellectual commitment, various hobbies, social wellbeing, and better family relationship.

Professional partners for healthy diet and medical care: Through a carefully selected lineup of professional partners well-versed in healthy diet and medical care, The Tanner Hill endeavours to ensure tenants' access to all the necessities conducive to a healthy life, monitored and advised by qualified professionals in their respective fields.

Senior-orientated fitness equipment and multi-function hall: The wellness gymnasium is equipped with senior-friendly and easy-to-use equipment to enable all kinds of resistance, balance and cardio training for seniors; and the multi-function hall/ activity rooms with different amenities ensure a great variety of recreational activities, exercise programmes or social gatherings can be held to encourage tenants to utilize leisure as therapy.

Envisioned as a hub of holistic and heartfelt care and services, The Tanner Hill Project is devoted to helping its future senior tenants increase longevity and enrich their golden years by strengthening the brain function responsible for the human capacities for learning, cognition, insight, and social knowledge, through the great array of recreational facilities and lineup of skilled personnel and professional partners.
