Five Fashion Tips for Looking Young

Whenever a special occasion comes along, whether an alumni dinner, a wedding or a festive banquet, many of us who are elderly obsess over what we should wear and how we can look young and dynamic.

The Reflector Principle
Many of us will pick dark clothes, which we feel, give a sense of sophistication and elegance. However, have you seen any elderly celebrities who dress in dark colours? Few actually do, because they know it is best to take advantage of the light. Light-coloured clothes reflect light onto the face, acting as a reflector which reduces the appearance of wrinkles, sagging skin or double chins caused by shadows. Signs of aging are masked and wearers enjoy a more radiant look.

Stand-out Colours
If you choose to wear light-coloured upper garments, try pastel colours like light blue, light green and pearly shades such as pearl white or pearl pink. These colours are not only pleasant to the eye, they make us appear more delicate, young and attractive. For festive occasions, instead of wearing traditional red, consider choosing a light golden or silver jacket. You will not only look trendy, you will also shine in the crowd.

Pick 'n' Mix Trends
Fashion changes endlessly. To keep up with trends, we don't have to wear miniskirts or skinny pants. We can make the most of fashion trends by, for example, wearing clothes with the latest patterned prints. Or try some trendy accessories, large earrings or aviator-style sunglasses for example, can reflect our own youthful styles.

Consult your Next Generation Stylists
It is easy to feel dazzled by the variety on display in the shops. Apart from bringing your good friends along for company, try inviting your children or grandchildren to go with you. Whether they are eight or eighteen, they will be able to share the latest fashion trends with you and help you to choose clothes that you would otherwise never think of. Let them give your wardrobe a more youthful look!

Work Miracles with Your Own Nostalgic Style
Can you still remember what you wore thirty years ago? Perhaps a slideshow of those classic styles is going through your mind right now? Don't forget, history repeats itself. The latest nostalgic trend just might happen to be a retro look at the 80s. Search through your closet at home, and you may find old treasures such as sweaters or that special accessory. Not only will they come in handy, but re-wearing them could bring back many happy memories while at the same time being a great way to be environmentally friendly. Even your children and grandchildren will be impressed!

How we dress is related to our own overall image. Dress in your own personal style and you will still look young and dynamic!
